I am a bit late (about 4 years!) in adding something to this lists of posts, but I just switched from a Savage to a 883 Harley. I have my same rules on saluting on the Harley as I did on the Savage. If someone salutes me, I salute them. If I am busy in traffic or going around curves, I try to give a nod. I salute all choppers and tend to see what riders on other types of bikes do before I salute. I do not salute people wearing shorts -- I think their legs are roadburn waiting to happen. Most other Harley riders salute me, but not all.
